Protection & Prevention

What We Do

Comprehensive fire protection for our community

From rapid emergency response to hands-on safety education, we offer the full range of services your Anza community relies on — every day and night.

Emergency Response

Structured fire suppression, medical emergencies, and rescue operations — available around the clock across the Cahuilla Reservation and surrounding Anza areas.

Fire Inspections

Proactive property and business inspections that identify hazards before they become emergencies — helping you stay compliant and, more importantly, safe.

Community Education

Hands-on fire safety workshops for schools, senior centers, and community groups — empowering residents with the knowledge to prevent fires and respond confidently.

Wildfire Preparedness

Given our desert location, wildfire risk is real. We coordinate defensible-space programs, early warning systems, and evacuation planning specific to the Anza-Borrego region.

Medical Emergency Response

Our trained personnel respond to medical crises with the same speed and professionalism — bridging the critical gap until advanced medical services arrive.

Residential Safety Checks

Free or low-cost home safety evaluations for seniors and vulnerable residents — smoke detector installs, escape plan reviews, and hazard identification at your doorstep.

About Us

Rooted in the community we serve

The Cahuilla Reservation Fire Department isn't an outside agency — we're part of the Cahuilla community here in Anza. Our firefighters live here, shop here, and send their kids to the same schools. That personal connection shapes everything we do.

Located along US Highway 371, we cover a unique landscape that blends desert terrain with residential neighborhoods. Our team is trained for the specific challenges this region presents — from brush and wildfire response to medical emergencies in a rural setting. We believe that prevention saves lives just as surely as a fast response does, which is why community education is at the heart of our mission.

Fire Safety Tips

Small steps that make a big difference

Fire safety doesn't have to be complicated. These practical tips can help protect your home and family — and they take only a few minutes to put in place.

1

Test Your Detectors

Press the test button on every smoke and carbon monoxide detector once a month. Replace batteries at least once a year.

2

Plan Two Exits

Every room should have at least two ways out. Practice your escape plan with your family so everyone knows what to do in the dark.

3

Clear Your Perimeter

In our desert community, keeping vegetation 30 feet away from your home creates a critical defensible space against wildfire.

4

Keep Extinguishers Ready

Every kitchen and garage should have a rated fire extinguisher. Learn the PASS technique: Pull, Aim, Squeeze, Sweep.
